Manhattan Transfer back by demand
"Combining the jazzy sounds of the Transfer and the classic big-band sound and swing of the Philharmonia ensured a spellbinding performance." [NZ Herald, 2003]
Following a sold-out performance with the Auckland Philharmonia in 2003, legendary vocal quartet The Manhattan Transfer return to Auckland for one concert only on Friday 26 August.
The Manhattan Transfer have enjoyed over three decades of fame. Still comprising the original members - Tim Hauser, Alan Paul, Janis Siegel and Cheryl Bentyne - they have more than 20 albums under their belt, a total of eight Grammy Awards, and can boast worldwide record sales in the millions.
The quartet, known for their many chart-topping hits including Chanson D' Amour, Operator, Boy from New York City, Java Jive, Birdland and Twilight Zone, have maintained a committed following, and the length of their career has not reduced the quality and energy of their collective effort.
Few in the music business have more class and style than The Manhattan Transfer. They have conquered the vocal intricacies of Jazz, R&B, Doo-Wop, Rock 'n' Roll and Brazilian, and have put their unique spin on the classic sounds of Swing.
The Manhattan Transfer continue to impress audiences every time they perform, not just with the flexibility of genres but also with their ability to reinvent themselves and bring something new to each rendition of their timeless classics.
