From Bollywood with
Love
Two Bollywood names will bring a taste of movie glamour and star power to the Asia:NZ Diwali Festival of Lights in Aotea Square, Auckland, this weekend.
Radio Tarana, a key sponsor of the 2005 Diwali festivals in Auckland and Wellington, have organised for actor Jimmy Shergill and pop singer Aiysha to join the festival in Auckland this Sunday, October 30.
Jimmy is well loved by
Indian audiences for his performances in Hindi movies like
‘Machis’, ‘Mohabbatein’, ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ and ‘Hum Tum’, as
well as for the blockbuster Punjabi film ‘Yaraan Naal
Baharaan’.
Radio Tarana’s managing director Robert Khan says Jimmy Shergill will be the first big Bollywood name to visit New Zealand for a public Diwali event and he urges people to come along to see him.
Also coming is Aiysha, the new sensation in the Bollywood music industry who is making a big name for herself in the Middle East and South Asia with two hit albums and a forthcoming film debut. Her single Tell Me That You Want Me also crossed over into mainstream charts last year.
The singer, who was born to Indo-Fijian parents and who sings in English, Hindi and Punjabi, comes from Brisbane but moved to Bombay last year to pursue a music and acting career in Bollywood.
Aiysha is the first ethnic South Asian from this part of the world to succeed in the intensely competitive Indian film industry for which she is being called the Indian Pop Queen of the Pacific.
