Philips New
Zealand Commit Through to 2007 Campaign
On the eve of the New Zealand Sponsorship Awards, Philips has announced a new agreement that will see it continue to sponsor the All Blacks and Tri Nations through to the end of 2007.
Philips and the New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) signed the agreement following the successful 2005 All Blacks sponsorship, which was the tenth year of sponsorship by Philips of the All Blacks and Tri Nation series.
The agreement will see Philips as the key sponsor for home games during the Tri Nations and an All Blacks category sponsor.
CEO of Philips Electronics New Zealand, Errol McKenzie, says Philips is proud to be continuing its support of the All Blacks beyond the ten year milestone.
“We are very pleased to provide ongoing support of the Tri Nations as they head into 2006 and begin to prepare for the 2007 campaign in France. However, while the country is now focused on the up-and-coming World Cups, our focus is on supporting the team against their toughest competitors - the Boks and the Wallabies!”
McKenzie says there are great synergies between the All Blacks brand as leading rugby brand worldwide, and Philips as a global leader in Healthcare, Lifestyle and Technology.
”Sponsorship relations is a key marketing platform for Philips globally. Philips is also committed to the FIFA World Cup 2006 and the All Blacks and Tri Nations sponsorship represents another great relationship, which provides benefits for Philips through our association with such a first class team.”
NZRU Deputy Chief Executive Steve Tew says he’s delighted Philips has committed to the Tri Nations series for another two years.
“Philips is a key sponsor of the All Blacks and New Zealand rugby through the long-established Philips Tri Nations and we enjoy a fantastic relationship with the company. We’re glad that relationship is going to continue,” he said.
Philips New Zealand is a finalist in today’s New Zealand Sponsorship Awards in the Best International Sports Sponsor for its ten year involvement with the All Blacks in the Philips Tri Nations series.
