Fat Freddy’s Bop
Fat Freddy’s Bop
Worldwide winner, Fat Freddy's Drop is stepping out of the rush to present the BOP 06, featuring a rocking gig in Tauranga and an all ages feel good gig in Rotorua.
The Freddy’s non-stop soul train has been touring overseas in December, racing across the Northern Hemisphere from Germany, to France, Italy and the UK. One of the last stops was Koko in London where the bros were special guests at the Radio 1 Gilles Peterson Worldwide Music Awards 2005, dropping a killer one hour set and walking away with the highly coveted Worldwide Album Of The Year for Based On A True Story.
The BOP tour will be a rare treat to catch the Freddy’s voodoo live in Aotearoa this summer, and with tickets priced at only $30 each, the shows for one of the country’s greatest live acts are expected to sell out fast. Support for the two independent Freddy’s shows will be Kora at the Brewers Bar stadium in Mt Maunganui, Tauranga, and Whirimako Black and duo Ladi 6 & Parks at the Rotorua Sportsdrome.
Most of Freddy’s other
summer stops are at festivals that have sold out, such as
Rhythm and Vines and Kaikoura Roots; their three appearances
for The NZ International Arts Festival were among the first
festival shows to sell out.
The purveyors of hi-tek soul
have just released the Wandering Eye single package for the
Xmas season, feat Fitchie remix and DVD of the music video
shot in a fish and chip shop, they reclaimed the Number One
spot on the NZ Album Charts in November for Based On A True
Story, scored four NZ Music Tui Awards in October, and still
they do it for the love of music.
