Suzuki Leads Manufacturers Championships
For the first time in 2006, in conjunction with the SsangYong New Zealand Road Race Championships, Motorcycling New Zealand’s Road Race Commissioner Paul Stewart has instigated a Manufacturers Championship for New Zealand’s Premier road race classes (Production Superbikes and 600 Sports Production).
Points are allocated on a one to twentieth basis for first to twentieth.
The first bike of each manufacturer home in each championship race, scores the points allocated to that position.
E.g. a Suzuki finishes first, Suzuki get twenty points, the first Honda finishes third, Honda get eighteen points and so on.
This year’s racing has been hard, fast and extremely close, with all the major manufacturers sharing in the glory.
Next weekend is the final round of the SsangYong New Zealand Road Race Championships at Ruapuna Park, outside Christchurch.
Some of the Championships have been decided, but others like the Superbikes are still wide open.
In the Manufacturers Championships Suzuki has a marginal lead over the competition, with the races this weekend deciding the Inaugural Manufacturers Champion.
