CALLING ALL ARTISTS Call for entries to Royal Easter Show Art Competition
Calling all artists, amateur and professional – you have until 10 March 2006 to get your entries in for this year’s Royal Easter Show Art Competition.
New Zealand’s largest art competition, the Royal Easter Show Art Competition is open to artists of all ages, amateur and professional.
There are thousands of dollars worth of prizes to be won, with painting, photography, ceramics, woodcraft and textile sections and numerous categories within each section.
All entries are on display for the duration of the Royal Easter Show, on from 13 –18 April at the Auckland Showgrounds, with many works also for sale.
The competition and show continue to grow in popularity, with more than 2,000 artworks on display and hundreds of artworks sold at last year’s event.
With the largest viewing audience of any art show in the country, tens of thousands of visitors are estimated to attend.
“The competition includes a wide range of categories and is open to artists of all levels of experience and expertise,” says Royal Easter Show Event Manager Robin Hill.
“Anyone interested in showing or selling their work should enter. It’s also great for networking with the art community and potential future buyers.”
Robin says anyone interested in art or looking to purchase a piece of art should definitely attend the show.
A demonstration area will feature pottery, weaving and painting demonstrations, and a shop will be selling art supplies and more art including glass, pottery, bronze work, and finely crafted knitwear and quilts.
