Cricket legends
join search to find the Samsung Cricket Fan of the
Year
Three of New Zealand’s cricket legends have
joined the search to find New Zealand’s most enthusiastic
cricket fan by signing up to judge the Samsung Cricket Fan
of the Year competition.
Former New Zealand captain, selector and international referee John R. Reid* will head up the judging panel that will choose the regional winners and a national winner.
Mr Reid says that the Samsung Cricket Fan of the Year provided an excellent opportunity to recognise fans and thank them for their ongoing support.
“The popularity of cricket relies on children, parents and cricket fans to support the game throughout the country.
“I’m looking forward to being part of the Samsung Cricket Fan of the Year search. It has been great to see so many people coming forward with their stories,” he says.
Martin Crowe*, one of the most successful batsmen of
all time, and former BLACKCAP allrounder Chris Cairns* will
join Mr Reid on the judging panel.
Samsung Head of
Marketing Jean-Philippe Diel will complete the judging
line-up. “As the official technology partner of the
BLACKCAPS, Samsung is committed to supporting New Zealand
cricket. We’re pleased to be able to recognise the public
for their support,” he says.
The search for the Samsung Cricket Fan of the Year is running in six regions throughout New Zealand including Auckland, Canterbury, Central Districts, Northern Districts, Otago and Wellington.
With only two week to go, fans need to describe in 100 words why they deserve to be crowned the Samsung Cricket Fan of the Year. The search began in December and will run until March 3, 2006. Samsung has now received more than 100 entries.
Send your 100 words to Samsung Cricket Fan of the Year, Samsung, PO Box 24 144, Wellington or email imaginecricket@samsung.co.nz
