New Zealanders won’t miss their favourite athletes competing for gold at the Games when they sign-up for text alert reminders from SPARC (Sport & Recreation New Zealand).
From tomorrow (Wednesday 8 March), kiwis can register for texts that alert them to watch TV coverage of New Zealand competing for a medal at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
People can also register to receive a SPARC text alert for every New Zealand netball, basketball, hockey and rugby sevens game.
Alerts will be sent out half-an-hour prior to action being screened live on TV ONE and people can tailor the service so they only receive alerts for their favourite Commonwealth Games sports.
“This is a great way to make sure you don’t miss the action in Melbourne. We all want to get behind New Zealand and there’s nothing better than watching the Games live,” said SPARC chief executive, Nick Hill.
“SPARC is confident of New Zealand’s success at the Games and we want to make sure all kiwis have the opportunity to watch their fellow New Zealanders make history in Melbourne,” Hill said.
TVNZ is delighted to be bringing the Commonwealth Games to New Zealand screens, and commends SPARC on its text alert initiative.
“With these Games being such a great opportunity for us to do well on the world stage, we’re sure sports fans and loyal Kiwis won’t want to miss out on the chance to see these special moments,” said Stephen Smith, TVNZ Head of Content.
“SPARC’s text alerts will let people know what’s coming up on TV ONE and make sure they don’t miss out on watching New Zealand win gold.”
Daily email updates are also available to New Zealand supporters. Updates will be distributed every morning during the Games and will include the previous day’s highlights, that day’s upcoming events and the current New Zealand medal tally.
To register for SPARC text alerts and daily email updates during the Games text 3015 or visit www.sparc.org.nz
Texts cost 20 cents (to register, and for every text alert).
