Are you up for this year’s Sanctuary Gutbuster?
The annual Karori Wildlife Sanctuary Gutbuster is taking place on Sunday 30 April 2006. Walk or run the 10.8km course, it’s up to you.
Starting at Ben Burn Park, Karori the course follows the outside perimeter of Karori Wildlife Sanctuary’s fenceline, ending at the Karori Scout Hall in Campbell Street.
Even though last years winner completed the course in less than 48 minutes, many opt to walk the course and enjoy the views along the way. “The course is rather steep in some parts and has plenty of points of interest along the way, including magical views of the Sanctuary and city. The Gutbuster attracts a variety of people – from competitive runners to corporate teams and to families just up for the challenge of walking the unique fence line“, says organiser David Howden of the Harbour City Rotary Club.
The Gutbuster is organised by the Combined Rotary Clubs of Wellington, in conjunction with Wellington Harriers, to help raise funds for the Combined Rotary Centennial Project – the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary Discovery Area. The event is also supported by Wellington City Council and Karori Wildlife Sanctuary.
Register before 23 April and entry is only $20 per competitor, $15 per junior or $80 per corporate team (4 members). Add $5 for registrations after 23 April. Walkers start at 8:30am and runners 9:30am.
For safety reasons bikes, mountain buggies and dogs will not be permitted during the event.
