Get Wild and Woolly at Nathan Homestead!

12 April 2006

Get Wild and Woolly at Nathan Homestead!

From 18 April until 2 May, Nathan Homestead arts centre in Manurewa hosts Wild Woolly Relations - a quirky take on traditional handicrafts.

The exhibition, presented by Toi o Manukau, explores light-hearted and imaginative uses of simple fibre materials such as wool, string and paper through crochet, weaving, knitting and other handicraft techniques.

For visitors, the exhibition will bring back childhood memories of macramé owls, crocheted blankets, woolly hats and scarves and embroidered pictures.

A group of artists from around the country have contributed works for the exhibition. Artists Margaret Lewis, Jeanine Clarkin, Bethany Edmunds, Nowera Hakimana, Paula Jakeman, and others have created offbeat and unique artworks. Further items have been kindly loaned by the whanau of Otukaiao, Motatau, Northland.
