Top coaches to exchange winning strategies

It’s no secret in the world of high performance sport that our athletes need top level coaching strategies and tactics to help them reach their goals.

To address this, the NZ Academy of Sport North (NZAS North) is providing the opportunity for leading New Zealand coaches such as Black Sticks coach Kevin Towns and swim coach Jan Cameron to share ideas at a new ‘High Performance Coach Support Centre.’

Located at the Millennium Institute of Sport and Health, the Coach Support Centre will be launched on May 15 and will provide a hub for leaders in high performance sport, including coaches, managers, sport scientists and other support team members.

“The objective of the High Performance Coach Support Centre is to develop an environment for knowledge sharing, so the best New Zealand coaches learn from each other,” said NZAS North Chief Executive, Pete Pfitzinger.

As well as providing a workplace at the heart of a world class integrated sporting environment, NZAS North will provide programmes at the Coach Support Centre to encourage a free-flowing exchange of ideas.

“We want to create a world-class coaching environment in New Zealand where athletes feel inspired to reach their potential and ultimately perform with excellence on the world stage,” said SPARC Chief Executive, Nick Hill.

The Centre will be home to the NZAS North ‘Performance Analysis Unit’ giving coaches access to cutting edge technology such as Bremy Remote Coach – a world first technology that allows coaches to monitor their athlete’s progress from anywhere in the world.

At the launch, former Australian netball coach Jill McIntosh will share the advantages she experienced working alongside other leading coaches at the Australian Institute of Sport.

NZAS North is part of SPARC’s high performance network providing support to elite athletes and coaches.
