Cadbury Dream Model Search 06 Finalists A Dream

It’s been X factor overload for the Cadbury Dream Model Search with organisers today announcing this year’s finalists.

Twelve gorgeous finalists were revealed, selected from a record 700 entrants. Auckland, Waikato and Christchurch came out tops, each contributing three aspiring models to the total, with two from Dunedin and one from Wellington.

Competition organiser and Director of Nova Models, Talent & Actors, Caroline Barley, said the auditions held throughout the country had been hugely successful and the calibre of this year’s entrants had been incredible.

“We saw so many gorgeous girls, more than 700 in fact! We managed to whittle that down to a shortlist of 30, but from there it was truly a difficult process to get that down to 12 girls – there were so many that stood out.

“In addition to our 12 finalists, there are another twenty-odd girls we will be contacting about either modelling with us or entering next year’s competition if we felt they were a little too young this time around.

“It was great to meet so many lovely, charismatic, confident young women. I’m already looking forward to next year and seeing how some of them blossom even more.

“The feedback from the girls has been really positive, everyone seems to have enjoyed the experience. We were also able to catch up with several finalists from previous years in our travels, who told us the experience has really helped to increase their confidence and open up doors for them, so we’re really pleased.”

Open to young women aged between 14 and 25, the Cadbury Dream Model Search travelled throughout New Zealand during May, with eight auditions in seven regional centres.

The overall winner will have their modelling career launched in New Zealand by Nova Models, Talent & Actors, and will be flown to Sydney all-expenses paid, to meet with top modeling agency Vivien’s Model Management for a test shoot with a top Australian fashion photographer.

The winner will also receive Cadbury Dream chocolates and flowers, a $1,000 Jeans West wardrobe, a $500 Schwarzkopf gift basket, a $1,000 scholarship for future travel with international model placement agency Michael Hooker International, a six-month membership at Les Mills gym, five sets of Hey Sister! underwear, a Danne skincare package, a $200 Overland voucher and a subscription to Stella magazine.

The final will be held on the evening of Wednesday 5 July at the Transmission Room in Auckland, where the 12 hopefuls will strut their stuff in front of an audience from the fashion and beauty industry, media, celebrities and sponsors.

The finalists will spend the three days prior in Auckland preparing for the final, including fittings, photo shoots, coaching on how to walk, and makeup and hair makeovers. Accommodation for the finalists is being provided by the Airedale Hotel and training is at the Ceroc dance studio.

The girls will model day and evening wear from Jeans West and underwear by Hey Sister! on the night, and will be interviewed by the judges the day of the final to determine factors like personality, attitude and determination.

This year’s judging panel includes: Caroline Barley, event director and owner of Nova Models, Actors & Talent; Susie Deveridge, Manager of Viviens Model Management, Sydney, Australia; Michael Hooker, Director of MHI International Model Placement; Belinda Waller, Australasian Advertising and PR Manager for Jeans West, Melbourne; and internationally renowned fashion photographer Tony Drayton.
