Onemail: Onefest Line Up Announced

Radio One
Onemail

Damn it is cold here in good old Dunedin. I once enjoyed the feel of plastic keys on the end of my fingertips but this week numbness has kicked in… sigh my myspace account and google are missing me terribly. Everyone here says keep warm and get excited because we are announcing the bands for ONEFEST 2006. Like right now!! Drum roll please…

We’ve gone and done it again and put together a killer line up for this years Onefest. Here goes –
Wed 26 July, Coco Solid, Hayman, DJ Tig at The Crown
Thur 27 July, David Kilgour and The Heavy Eights, Bachelorette at Arc

ROUNDED OFF WITH
A Record Fair! Radio One 91FM is holding its very first Record Fair at the Main Common Room, University of Otago on Saturday 29th July. It is going to be rad and you can buy loads of goodies for yourself. Heck if you are a geek you could get all your Christmas shopping done. Email promotions@r1.co.nz if ya wanna stall.

DAY TO MARKET
Buy treats for yourself ‘cos Radio One Market Day is coming up on July 12th. And Lawrence Arabia is coming down from the big smoke to play at it.

WAKING UP IN THE MORNING IS A BRAND NEW EXPERIENCE
Emma is off for a much-deserved break with a bag full of organic veges and a swag of texts books to wade through. No need to panic however as Handsome Hayden and Aaron are taking over the drivers seat for a week. Good times.

ONECARDS ARE WONDERFUL
Do you like free gigs during Onefest? Discounts? Free CDs? Stuff? Well join our club. And make sure your friends are equipped with Onecards too. Did you know that Onecards self-destruct when shared with others? Well then, grab a Onecard for a mere $25 from the R1 offices, Arc Café, Real Groovy or Cosmic Corner. Check out www.r1.co.nz for the full list of discounters.

ARC CAFÉ TOP 11
Vote and just maybe you could win the following: Matisyahu CD, Peeping Tom CD, Chris Knox and the Nothing CD, The Mountain Goats EP, Radio One tee and Real Groove Mag June Issue . Peaches was number 1 this week with Downtown. Maybe Cream will be a surprise entry into the Top 11 next week. he he

FEATURE CD – ALPHARHYTHM
This week we have a pearler. Ten years in the making, 'Sentient Beings' is the debut Long-Player from Otepoti's own Alpharhythm. Micro-house, deep dub trenches and expansive broken beat collide in a wash of beautiful clectronica. Brace yourself, because this one-inch-punch of an album is here for your soul. We will be giving away copies of the album all next week on Drive and Breakfast.

DPAG LATE BREAKFAST
It's never too early for a few gin and tonics and some smooth lounge on a Saturday; pull out that old set of pearls and catch up with Paul K Hoskin from Twinset, as they launch their sixth studio album 'Flavour Country'. Justin Paton has recovered enough to drop in for a chat about his acclaimed book 'How To Look At A Painting', and Carl A Mears kicks us off with his special blend of cultural vitriol. Yum.

WIN WITH YOUR ONECARD
This week you could score yourself: tickets to Cornerstone Roots gig at Arc; Mates of State ‘Bring It Back’ CDs; Calexico ‘Garden Ruin’CDs; Salmonella Dub ‘Remixes and Radio Cuts’ CDs plus some Pavement Magazines.

WE LIKE DISCOUNTS
Next Thursday dDub are in town. They are playing at Arc Café and it’s only $11 with your 2006 Onecard. Sweeeet deal.

Some helpful advice from everyone at Radio One –Staying warm is easy when you are in a warm place.
