Onefest 2006 Line Up
Radio One 91fm’s 2006 Onefest 26th – 29th July
Four nights of FREE gigs plus a Record Fair!
Radio One's Onefest is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this year - that's 10 years of bringing the brightest and most talented New Zealand bands and DJs to perform exclusively FREE for Dunedin audiences!! This year’s killer line up includes the following -
Wednesday 26 July at The Crown Hotel
COCO SOLID, HAY MAN!, DJ TIG
Rap’n’rolls gonna getcha! Coco Solid (Coco and Erik Ultimate) along with Malaysian gangster DJ Han Baby are kicking off the Onefest festivities with their booty-bass, trademark minimal electro beats and rhymes about everything from sex and science to the daily grind. Topping off this spectacle we have Dunedin’s Japanese rock’n’roll superstars – HAY MAN!. One part Tsunami, three parts rock’n’roll mayhem and simply the best and craziest cover band you will ever see.
Thursday 27 July at Arc Cafe
DAVID KILGOUR AND THE HEAVY EIGHTS, BACHELORETTE
Playing for the first time this year we have international guitar star and man about the beach, David Kilgour, who is rolling out his band, the Heavy Eights, to warm your ears (and everything else!) with psychedelic pop action. If you have not caught this man live yet - you need to! Come along and bare witness to a vision of gorgeous guitarness and sumptuous songs. Joining them we have solo synthete Annabel Alpers aka Bachelorette, who will buzz you out with her distinct brand of electronic goodness.
Friday 28 July at Bath Street
NORTH SHORE PONY CLUB, ANDY FLYBOY
Get ready for the ultimate dance off! North Shore Pony Club has landed. They are the kings of a whole new genre embracing New Zealand right now. So put on some comfy sneakers because the lads will be mixing up 80s pop, techno, and electro trash in one giant dirty disco blender. And if you thought that was too much party to handle, in addition we have the ultimate good time party DJ and Dunedin’s favourite lover man – Mr Andy Flyboy.
Saturday 29 July at Refuel
HDU, CRUDE, OPERATION ROLLING THUNDER
HDU (High Dependency Unit) are back together for one splendid night. HDU are ready to spark terror on their old stomping ground, so get ready for a musical attack of psychedelic sonic rock and ear aching riffs and beats. Joining team HDU we have Crude a one-man ball of hyper musical activity, aka Matt ‘Don’t Run with Those Scissors’ Middleton and Operation Rolling Thunder, a two-piece instrumental group consisting of brotherly love and experimental scapes.
Plus the Record Fair!
For the first time ever, Radio One is hosting a Record Fair on the Saturday from 11.00am until 4.00pm in the University Union - scoop up musical treasures galore whilst listening to bands and DJs. Stay tuned to 91fm or www.r1.co.nz for more details.
