Who Killed King Tut? All is Revealed on Maori Television…
It’s the ultimate murder mystery – who killed Egypt’s boy king Tutankhamun and why? His assassin is finally unmasked when this ancient unsolved case is investigated by modern-day forensic experts in the fascinating two-part documentary TUTANKHAMUN: A MURDER MYSTERY (Maori Television, Friday July 7 and July 14 at 8.30 PM)
Maori Television is proud to screen this world-acclaimed show, which made headlines all over the world, for the first time on free-to-air television.
When Tutankhamun died in 1323 BC at the age of 18, his body was hastily mummified and placed in an unfinished tomb, his existence unknown until the tomb’s sensational re-discovery in 1922.
But how and why did Tutankhamun die? In TUTANKHAMUN: A MURDER MYSTERY, two highly-respected homicide detectives believe the evidence points to murder, conspiracy and cover-up.
Cameras follow their investigation as they re-open the case, travel across Egypt looking for clues and use modern methods to find the king’s killer.
TUTANKHAMUN: A MURDER MYSTERY brings together experts from a wide range of disciplines – criminal profilers, forensic psychiatrists, medical examiners, even leading US defence lawyers, who must decide if there’s enough evidence for a trial.
Piecing together the centuries-old puzzle, the team reconstructs the events before, during and after King Tutankhamun’s suspicious death.
The detectives are amongst some of America’s finest criminal profilers. Chief Cooper is former FBI, part of its Behavioural Science Unit, made famous by the film Silence of the Lambs. With his partner Lieutenant Mike King they use techniques pioneered by the FBI to uncover clues, including forensic reports, crime scene photos and interviews with experts.
The documentary uses dramatic reconstructions and computer graphics to bring to life the extraordinary true story of Tutankhamun.
Meet the prime suspects – the men behind the throne who dictate the young king’s every move. Did Horemheb, the commander-in-chief of the army, have the motive? Or maybe Maya, the chief financier? Or did Ay, the king’s closest counsellor, kill his young charge?
Two years in the making, TUTANKHAMUN: A MURDER MYSTERY also lifts the mask off the mummy, revealing a very different portrait of Egypt’s most famous pharaoh. The first ever computerised facial reconstruction of the pharaoh reveals the real person behind the iconic image of his death mask.
Join modern day detectives hunting ancient killers in TUTANKHAMUN: A MURDER MYSTERY on Maori Television on Friday July 7 and July 14 at 8.30 PM.
