Thistle Hall is a vibrant community centre in the heart of New Zealand's cultural capital. We provide a community hall, meeting room and Wellington's only community gallery showcasing a range of artists and crafts people, from the established to the emerging.

OPENING TONIGHT: Synergy and Symmetry
6pm-9pm Sage Blacq will be providing live sounds

30 JULY - 8 AUGUST 2006

An exhibition displaying a cross pollination and evolution of ideas.

Excited by the ideas of tapping into the unseen, in 2005 Dan Wilkinson set out to display artworks that were spontaneously, yet specifically created to the sounds of up and coming musicians Sage Blacq and AJ Hickling (known in bands such as Diwata and Tommy).

An exhibition featuring these artworks was held at Thistle Hall this time last year, paired with live sounds. The exhibition was seen by over 500 people, with great response. This year local artists Billy McGrath, Christina Earl, Serena Maree join Dan and Sage Blacq to create works in a similar fashion.

Within a live musical environment, the artists together with the musician feed off the atmosphere of the room which influences both there creative process, and allows some real magic to take place. The syncronised energy and the physical parallel between music and art, are exactly why this show is called Synergy and Symmetry.

Make sure you witness the outcome between July 31st and Aug 8th at Thistle Hall, it will be like nothing else you have seen…
