UK Punk Band Peter and the Test Tube Babies
UK punk band
Peter and the Test Tube Babies
On their way back from performing the Wasted Festival in Australia Peter and the Test Tube Babies will stop over in New Zealand, for the first time ever, to perform two shows -
Thursday 7 September @ Bar Bodega, Wellington
Friday 8 September @ Kings Arms, Auckland, with Suicide
Dogs & the Bludgers
In the early 80s Peter and the Test Tube Babies wrote some of the most potent songs about the hazards of being young punks in Brighton; Banned From The Pubs, Intensive Care, Run Like Hell… the list goes on; all had the Test Tubes hallmark of combining personal experiences, real cool tunes and most important of all, maintaining a great sense of humour.
Their 1982 debut album Pissed and Proud featured the chart topping, (and some say nauseatingly bad) Gary Glitter hit I'm The Leader Of The Gang (I Am)). The following year they released The Mating Sounds Of South American Frogs album which instantly became a long standing number one on the UK Indie charts and catapulted them into a career that saw the group, for the next 23 years, constantly touring the UK, USA, Canada, Germany, France, Brazil, and Norway.
Pissed Punks Go For It, Zombie Creeping Flesh, Fuck The Millennium, Up Yer Bum and I'm Getting Pissed For Xmas (featuring GBH), are some of the more memorable track names and in 2001 world renowned skateboarder Tony Hawk chose the song Blown Out Again for his film The End. Months later the band were invited to appear as special guests for a party in LA held in Tony’s honour.
The most recent offering A Foot Full Of Bullets was released in November 2005. 23 years after their first release Peter and the Test Tube Babies remain one of the most exciting punk bands to come out of Europe.
If you get the chance to see them live, expect the unexpected, but most importantly make sure you don't miss them!
Tickets on sale from August 10 @Real Groovy Auckland and Wellington.
