Shapeshifter and the APO in cutting-edge collaboration

In a unique concert collaboration, top New Zealand band Shapeshifter and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra team up for one concert only on Saturday 16 September. The concert features Shapeshifter hits such as "Been Missin", "Tapestry" and "When I Return", all arranged for full orchestra by Victoria Kelly.

Combining Shapeshifter's dance floor style of music - which takes elements of jazz, Latin, reggae, soul, rock, hip hop and electronica - with the force of a full scale symphony orchestra will provide an extraordinary concert experience and will be reminiscent of the band's unprecedented live collaboration with the APO in front of 20,000 people at the Auckland Domain in 2005.

Shapeshifter have been heralded as a musical phenomenon for their ground breaking live shows which are performed regularly throughout New Zealand and Australia and include five consecutive sold-out New Zealand tours and concerts throughout the New Zealand festival circuit.

The band have also received widespread critical and commercial acclaim for their recorded work. 2001 saw the release of their debut LP Realtime which was awarded the Best Electronic Release at the 2002 bnet NZ music awards, and was also nominated at the RIANZ NZ music awards for Best Electronic Album. Their second release Riddim Wise gained gold sales status and is only the second independently distributed Drum'n'Bass album in the world to do so.

Shapeshifter's concert with the APO is part of the band's New Zealand tour and coincides with the release of their latest album Soulstice, which is available in stores on 28 August.
