Bach with attitude – the JACQUES LOUSSIER TRIO – Farewell Tour

This French jazz ensemble make an unexpected and welcome return to New Zealand after dazzling audiences here in 2000.

This will be a final opportunity ever to hear the unique sound of the Jacques Loussier Trio in New Zealand as they have chosen to retire from the rigors of touring outside Europe. This is their Farewell Tour.

Jacques Loussier made his international reputation by combining his interest in jazz with his love of J.S. Bach. Only a pianist with such an exceptional classical technique and deft improvisatory skill could have nurtured such a vision; using Bach’s compositions as the basis for jazz improvisation.

The trio immediately caught the public imagination and for over 45 years, and millions of album sales, audiences all over the world have been electrified by Jacques Loussier and his extraordinary Trio.

Known worldwide for their inspired reinvention of the work of JS Bach, the Jacques Loussier Trio also give the “Loussier treatment” to the music of Vivaldi, Ravel, Handel, Beethoven and Satie. This will be an unparalleled opportunity to experience an evening of astounding jazz.
