Kate Sylvester Little Red Riding Hood Fur and wool coats, hoods and snoods ruled the catwalk at the Kate Sylvester Autumn/Winter collection show. Inspired by the story of Little Red Riding Hood, Kate certainly set the mood with a dark forest backdrop, glowing eyes projected on the walls and the sounds of wolves howling echoing around the hall.
The influence of the wolf, woodsman and granny were felt. The wolf slunk around in pelts of white and soft browns, appearing on sleeves, detached hoods, collars, full length coats belted over the top and gloves strung together with long red ties.
Granny and her lacy cap, bed jacket and wool blanket shone through in a delightful mid-thigh crème wool reminiscent dress with slightly puffed sleeves and a grey belted dress adorned by nude ruffled lace, with a hint of the wolf masquerading as her with fur at the neck.

The woodsman was alluded to by snippets of checks and hounds-tooth sneaking onto bodices, socks and sleeveless leotards, his boots and masculinity shining through chunky knit cardigans and up to the thigh leatherette and wool socks.

Of course this lead to an appearance by Miss Hood herself, sporting a resplendent red woollen cape, mouse brown wraps with a neck tie, long woollen coats and thin wool turtle necks, billowing white chiffon blouses matched with tiny vibrant red shorts, velvet leopard print s and dresses, cardigans and camis in charcoal and black -most with close fitting hoods and snoods - showing everyone she wouldn’t go down without a fight.
Kate’s collection for last Fashion Week was a total sell-out at retail – and there is no doubt that is the future for this inspired and rich Winter/Autumn collection.
