Talent search on for Pasifika Festival 2007

Talent search on for Pasifika Festival 2007

Up and coming performers are invited to audition on Saturday, 18 November for next year’s Pasifika Festival.

The audition – called “Expressions Pasifika” – is a chance for first-time artists to show the judges why they should be performing at next year’s festival.

Consideration will be given to all forms of performance and artistic expression, from traditional song and dance to comedy and more contemporary musical genres.

Pasifika Festival entertainment manager, Rick Tuiasau, says the auditions help organisers find a new pool of Pacific talent to introduce to festival audiences.

“The Pasifika Festival provides the perfect opportunity to showcase Pacific artists to the public. The up and comers who are selected from the auditions will complement the larger headline acts, some of whom got their start through the audition process years ago."

Audition application forms can be requested by contacting Rick Tuiasau on (09) 353 9533 or by emailing rick.tuiasau[at]aucklandcity.govt.nz

Completed applications forms must be returned by email, fax or post to Auckland City no later than 3.30pm on Friday, 10 November 2006.

Successful applicants will be given a scheduled audition time on receipt of a fully completed application form.

Pasifika Festival will celebrate its 15th anniversary at Western Springs lakeside on 9 and 10 March 2007. It starts on Friday with the spectacular opening night concert featuring cultural and contemporary acts, and continues on Saturday with a full day of performances, entertainment, food and festivities.
