Crack The Final Code On Maori Television!
Maori Television’s dynamic Maori sports entertainment show CODE wraps up its second year on air this Thursday October 19 at 8.30 PM.
Broadcast live each week from Maori Television’s Auckland studios or from major sports events around the country, the one-hour programme includes the latest news, inside stories and behind-the-scenes action with top sports personalities making headlines at home and abroad.
The final in the second series – presented by some of the country’s finest Maori athletes and role models including Tawera Nikau, Ritchie Barnett, Wairangi Koopu and Matua Parkinson – will feature studio guests Luke McAlister from the All Blacks and Wellington rugby player Hosea Gear.
Maori Television executive producer of sport Bailey Mackey says the show’s stand-out strengths lie in the immense mana and talent of the presenters as well as the calibre of the studio guests “who feel at home in a laid-back Maori manner”.
This year, special guests have included All Black coach Graham Henry in one of his few studio interviews ever, All Black players Ali Williams, Rico Gear and Piri Weepu, Silver Ferns Temepara George, Jodi Te Huna, and Jolene Henry, New Zealand heavyweight boxing champion Shane Cameron, Tall Blacks Pero Cameron and rugby league superstar Benji Marshall.
Olympic champion Hamish Carter, K1 world champs Peter Aerts and Schemmy Schiltz, Kiwi league coach Brian McClennan and Samoan boxer David Tua also prove that you don’t have to be Maori to get into the CODE groove.
“CODE has built a cult following and continues to be a ratings success for Maori Television,” Mackey says. “We are proud to be the only show of its kind currently on television in Aotearoa.”
Catch the final of CODE on Maori Television this Thursday October 19 at 8.30 PM.
