Silver Ferns say thank you to fans on Shine On Tour

Netball New Zealand and Fisher & Paykel announced today that the Silver Ferns will visit five towns in New Zealand next week to say thank you to the fans who have supported them throughout the 2006 netball season, including the undoubted highlight of the year, winning their first Commonwealth Games gold medal in Melbourne in March.

The “Silver Ferns Shine On Tour” begins on Wednesday 25 October, with the players participating in the Breast Cancer Walk in Tauranga. The walk begins at 6pm, and the Silver Ferns will sign autographs following the walk.

The tour will continue to Napier, Palmerston North and Nelson, where the Silver Ferns will host netball clinics for year nine netballers invited from local colleges, and attend public autograph and photo sessions. The tour concludes in Mosgiel on Sunday 29 October with the Ferns visiting the Fisher & Paykel Netball Club for a barbeque at the Fisher & Paykel factory.

Silver Ferns Captain Adine Wilson says that the players are looking forward to the opportunity to meet some of their fans.

“The Silver Ferns have received amazing support all year, and especially during our campaign at the Commonwealth Games,” Wilson said.

“It’s great to have the chance to say thank you to some of the awesome people who have supported us.”

Fisher & Paykel Marketing Manager Roger Bridge says that Fisher & Paykel are proud to be able to bring the Silver Ferns to fans who don’t often get the opportunity to see the players in person.
