Help make Santa’s day

Go on, admit it. You’ve always wanted to be part of the Farmers Santa Parade… and now’s your chance.

The organisers of the annual tribute to the advent of the festive season are calling for volunteers to help bring the Christmas spirit to the City of Sails.

They’re looking for people to work both behind the scenes and as part of the Parade on 26 November.

“The Farmers Santa Parade is fast approaching and there are still opportunities for people to be part of this fantastic event,” says organiser Pam Glaser.

Behind the scenes volunteers need to be 18 years or older. Ms Glaser is looking for people to be marshals, banner carriers, costume minders and the like.

She is also looking for people to be part of the Parade.

“It’s going to be heaps of fun and a really enjoyable occasion,” Pam says. “We have a diverse range of characters to be part of the show – we need some tall people to be trolley dogs, a teenage boy to be a dice, three men to be snowmen and 10 people to be gingerbread men.”

Volunteers are required from about 11am and will be free to go from about 4pm.

This year's Farmers Santa Parade in Auckland is scheduled for Sunday 26 November.

The Parade starts on the corner of Mayoral Drive and Cook Streets before heading down Queen Street to Customs Street and then up Albert Street to the corner of Wellesley Street.

“Kids and their caregivers can expect a procession of clowns, costumes and colourful floats,” Pam says.

“We’ve got some great floats including Nickelodeon and Disney, bands and costume groups, characters costumes, Austin Powers and of course the Grand Marshall who shall remain secret until closer to the time.”
