A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Jazz
Frontseat, 10.45pm this Sunday 12th November on TV ONE after “Under The Tuscan Sun”.
FLAVOUR COUNTRY:
This week
Oliver is at Cabaret, the live music dining lounge at
Wellington’s Chow restaurant. Renowned Wellington jazz
outfit Twinset play us tunes from their recently released
6th album “Flavour Country” and crack a few gags about
jazz, country and Wellington bands.
LI’L
CHIEF:
Oliver Driver hangs with Gareth Shute, a musician,
record label owner and author whose beautiful book “Hip
Hop Music in Aotearoa” won awards. His new book
“Insights” features interviews with and
black’n’white portraits of 58 creative New Zealanders,
from Victoria Kelly to John Pule to Age Pryor.
THE FRONT
ROW:
Opinionated comment from recognisable faces with
plenty to say including Naked Samoan Mario Gaoa, artist Dick
Frizzell, broadcaster Noelle McCarthy, actor Joel Tobeck.
This week: Naked Samoan Mario Gaoa’s last Front Row
suggesting art should be more like sport caused some
controversy. With the help of some viewer suggestions, he
delivers his own right of reply.
THAT’S COUNTRY:
A
fan of country music, but not so keen on the traditional
stuff? Wondering who’s hot in Kiwi country right now, but
can’t tell the difference between alt.country, new folk
and country’n’western? Josie McNaught chats to a few
aficionados, and meets New Zealand’s answer to Shania
Twain.
