Chris Knox to Launch Week of Nun on Kiwi

Kiwi FM’s studio will be hijacked this Saturday by none other than Chris Knox and he promises all the stories, the dirt and the tunes that have made the Flying Nun label the pre-eminent vehicle for New Zealand’s musicians.

Chris has agreed to take over the station for a very special two-hour Label Hijack from 11am – 1pm, in preparation for a week of Flying Nun tunes to celebrate the release of the Limited Edition Flying Nun CD Box Set and the Flying Nun 25th Anniversary Real Groove Special Edition – both in stores Monday.

All next week, Kiwi FM will be featuring 25 Flying Nun tracks a day, making it a must-hear five days of New Zealand music on the country’s only dedicated 100% local content network.

Kiwi FM General Manager Karyn Hay is no stranger to the Flying Nun stable and is looking forward to showcasing the music that gave New Zealand its own voice.

“Flying Nun was a label that had a heart – and it liked to rip it out and put it on the table for all to see,” she says with a laugh. “ Oh yeah, and then find Chris Knox and an eight millimetre camera and make a video for it,” she says.

“We are full of admiration for all those involved in the label over the last twenty-five years – the people who provided inspiration and the people that kept the whole thing going. It is a pleasure to be able to represent that sound on this radio network.”

Kiwi FM’s week of Nun kicks off on Monday morning on Crash Start with Karyn Hay and Andrew Fagan. The box set and Real Groove special edition will be available from all trusty retailers.
