Distinctive Sculpture Stolen
from Art Gallery in Parnell
Sanderson Contemporary Art in Parnell (formally Artigiano Gallery) has suffered its second theft in less than a month.
A valuable sculpture, by well-known Auckland artist Ray Haydon, was stolen from the gallery on Tuesday afternoon, 5th December 2006.
The dimensions of the stainless steel piece are 430mm(w)x230mm(l)x145mm(h). It's relatively small which makes it easy to carry and hide. This work is very easily identifiable through its distinct form and high quality finish. Additional images and further description are available on request.
There is a possibility that the piece might find its way to art dealers, antique stores, art auctioneers or other galleries.
A reward is being offered for any information that leads to the recovery of this work.
"We really just want the sculpture back because it is such a unique piece," said Tamara Darragh, curator of Sanderson Contemporary Art.
