Anything Tane Can Do, Wahine Can Do

Publicity Release
Thursday December 7 2006

Anything Tane Can Do, Wahine Can Do – and Then Some!

It’s liberated, lively and lippy, and it’s back on Maori Television. E KO! – the sassy series for mana wahine returns for a third season on Monday December 18 at 6.00 PM – and this time it’s breaking even more rules.

From sky-diving to sheep-shearing, cheer-leading to paddling, sassy and spirited presenters Veeshayne Patuwai and Aroha Hathaway break the status quo by taking on challenges around the motu.

The dynamic duo also interviews well-known women who are proof that anything tane can do, wahine can do – and then some!

A mother, actor, broadcaster and on Maori Television’s Ask Your Auntie advice show, Veeshayne has been in all three series of E KO!

It’s been a wild ride for multi-talented Veeshayne. On E KO! she surfs, jumps out of planes at 12,000 feet, shears grumpy sheep and can play most sports she tries her hand at.

“E KO! celebrates wahine around Aotearoa who stand out in sport, music or their careers, and deserve recognition,”says Veeshayne. “It’s an amazing show to be part of and there’s always another challenge just around the corner.”

Although this is Aroha’s first time on E KO! (made by production company Flirt Media) she has worked with Veeshayne before on the Ask Your Aunties panel. A well-known radio DJ, Aroha studied law, Maori, politics and English literature at university. She’s also a gifted singer and her bubbly personality brings out the best in the women she meets on E KO!

“We’ll try out anything gives us a chance to show that wahine aren’t afraid to take risks!” she says. “E KO! is packed with attitude and inspiration from start to finish.”
