Outward Sound Grants – Round Four

Outward Sound Grants – Round Four

Outward Sound is now a year old! During this time, the programme has already granted $464,140.17 to a total of 27 New Zealand artists to provide assistance with market development activities and to promote NZ music offshore.

This total is about to get bigger as the NZMIC is pleased to announce the fourth and final batch of successful Outward Sound applicants for 2006.

Phase Two grants, providing the opportunity for in-market performances and related business development, were awarded to Tim Finn (for album showcases in Australia, the UK, Europe, Canada and the USA), Blindspott, and Handmade Records (both for Australia).

A Phase One market-scoping grant was allocated to Brooke Fraser for work in the UK and USA.

Additionally in this round of grants, a special allocation was made for those companies attending the MIDEM Trade Show in January 2007, with Phase One MIDEM assistance going to King Exports, LOOP Recordings Aot(ear)oa, Ode Record Company, and Rattle Records.

No Phase Three grants were awarded in this round.

Between the eight successful applicants a total of $74,707.75 has been allocated, with the recipients required to match this on a dollar-for-dollar basis.

This brings the grand total for 2006 up to $538,847.92 granted to 35 NZ music businesses! These are: Arch Hill Recordings, Batucada Sound Machine, Bic Runga, The Bleeders, Blindspott, Breaks Co-op, Brooke Fraser, The Brunettes, The Checks, Concord Dawn, Die! Die!
