Camp A Low Hum - Wainuiomata, Waitangi Weekend 2007.

Mid 2006 I asked people what they hated about conventional music festivals, and given the chance what they would change. It was my plan to create the "perfect" music festival.

Every issue I was presented with I have tackled and created a music festival which is the first of its kind in the World.

Here are some facts about Camp A LOW HUM.

1. Camp will be held over four nights, with entertainment stretching out over three full days. Not one single band will start until everybody is at the festival. Their will be no gate sales. Everybody is to arrive on the Friday, and no bands start until Saturday.

2. Tickets for Camp A LOW HUM are $140. For those in the South Island , we have a limited number of special tickets which include the entry ticket and ALL travel for only $275. A LOW HUM has a dedication to providing good music to people of the South Island who for too long have had to miss many great tours and bands because of slack, non-risk taking promoters. Because I could not put this camp on in the South Island I have made this amazing offer available.

3. Not one single band will be announced before the first day of camp, at which it will be too late to buy tickets. There will be more then 40 acts playing over the three days. People who are coming to Camp A LOW HUM are coming to discover their new favourite bands, not to watch tired, boring bands. Who is playing does not matter. That it will be fun does.

4. Every band playing at Camp A LOW HUM plays TWICE! This means you have the opportunity to watch every bands full set at least once. No running around from stage to stage trying to see 5 mins of each band. Relax! You've got plenty of time. Each band plays once on the outdoors stage, and then again in an indoors environment where only the first 200 people in the room get to see them. As I believe that there is no better way then to see a band with only 200 other people, I have set this room up especially.

5. There are three camp wide music breaks each day where no bands will be playing and camp activities are planned. For those who want to take part there is canoeing, a swimming pool, a confidence course - with flying fox and there are planned camp games like "Cat & Mouse" and "Midnight" etc. Also over the three days there is a " Top Town " competition taking place where campers are grouped in their hometown and then pitted off town against town to see who is the " Top Town ". Also, dinner and breakfast are campwide music breaks so musicians and campers get to share some quiet time.

6. Every band playing at camp is being recorded for a live CD. Campers when they leave Camp not only leave having had the best time of their lives, but they leave in the knowledge that in a few weeks time a fantastic little CD package will turn up in their letterbox as a memento of the camp.

7. A free shuttle bus is on site to take campers down to the local township if they want a break.

8. The campsite is massive and if people want a break from music they can go for a bushwalk, head down to the lagoon, toast marshmallows campfire, head to the Arts and Crafts room or maybe relax in the camp cinema and watch old skool 80s camp movies on beanbags.

9. To keep numbers small so that over the three days everybody at camp has an opportunity to meet everyone else, tickets are EXTREMELY limited and selling fast.

Over the past three years A LOW HUM has presented 22 nationwide tours of the country with 50+ New Zealand bands on the tours. The bands playing at Camp are my favourites of these bands and a selection of the best up and coming bands in the country. In 2006, bands from 6 of the 10 nationwide tours A LOW HUM presented signed lucrative international record deals. If you want to have a great time and want to know what bands from New Zealand are going to make it on the international circuit, come to Camp.
