Kiwi brothers to ride together in Crusty Demons tour

Kiwi brothers Levi Sherwood and Ryan Laskey will now ride together in the Crusty Demons Kiwi Carnage Tour, after rider Michael ‘Chuck’ Norris pulled out of the first three shows due to the imminent and delayed birth of his first child.

Tour promoters Rush Sports today announced that 18 year-old Ryan would join his half-brother, 15 year-old Levi Sherwood and the Crusty Demons team for the Dunedin, Christchurch and Palmerston North shows of the six-stop New Zealand tour.

Ryan has been involved in motocross racing since he was eight years old and taking part in freestyle motocross since he was 14.

“I’m stoked to be part of the Kiwi Carnage tour and I’m really looking forward to learning from the biggest names in international freestyle motocross such as Nate Adams,” he said.

“I’ve had a few crashes recently so being part of this tour will be an awesome way of getting back into things”.

The brothers who share a passion for freestyle motocross ride together as often as possible at Levi’s father’s farm in Palmerston North.

“We get in as much practice as we can whenever the weather’s good,” Ryan said.
“I’d love to be a full member of the Crusty Demons one day so I’m making sure that I get in as much riding practice as I can.”

Show promoter Michael Porra said it was great to have another kiwi rider on the New Zealand leg of the tour - the first stage of an all new world tour which will then move to Australia, China, the USA and Europe over the next 12 months.

“It’s really great to have such a solid line-up of top kiwi riders,” Porra said.

Along with Ryan and Levi, New Zealand’s number one rider Luke Smith will appear in the Kiwi Carnage Tour, as will world number one female freestyler ‘Scary’ Mary Perkins.

“The tour features an awesome rider line-up including: multi X Games gold medallist and world number one Nate Adams, X Games medallist Adam Jones, California’s quad back flipper Jon Guetter, and Wisconsin’s snow mobile backflipper Justin Hoyer.

“Australia’s top riders will also join the team including 2006 X Games medallist Bilko Williams who will throw down his death defying jackhammer backflip, Steve Mini and Cam Sinclair - all of whom are back flipping over 75ft. While Michael ‘Chuck’ Norris is now unavailable for the first three shows, he will be appearing in the final two.

“Each show will also feature minibike madness, the world famous Crusty Babes, a huge pyrotechnic show, heaps of giveaways and much more,” Porra said.

“Its three hours of action packed, mind blowing, death defying insanity from the finest FMX riders on the planet.”

In another world first for the Crustys – the show will be performed on the first ever million dollar, fully transportable FMX set with the world’s biggest portable 40-foot wide down ramp. The new set, which requires a crew of 50 people to bump in and out, is made up of two truckloads of purpose-designed interlocking rubber flooring and a multi-million dollar sound system.

Tickets are available at Ticket Direct (Dunedin, New Plymouth, Palmerston North and Hamilton shows), and Ticketek (Auckland and Christchurch shows). See www.ticketdirect.co.nz, www.ticketek.co.nz or www.crusty.com for more information.
