Groove In The Park Festival Thanks 20,000

Media Release: Groove In The Park Festival Thanks More Than 20,000 Friends As It Celebrates Its 5th Birtday In Western Springs Stadium Auckland – Tuesday Feb 6, Waitangi Day 2007

Groove in the Park would like to say a massive thank you to the all ages audience of more than 20,000 + the more than 50 local & international artists, djs & performers who celebrated Waitangi Day 2007 at Western Springs Stadium with us. And of course we couldn’t have had the great day that it was without the sunshine & the support of absolutely everyone who in any way gave assistance in the lead up to the event – thank you again!

We’re respectful of Groove In the Parks’ previous successes & will continue to keep it an affordable family day festival. This year those under 15years were free for entry & even with even escalating holiday penal costs we’ll continue to keep the admission price as low as possible for everyone else for the foreseeable future. But it’s a new venue, with a new management team, support staff & sponsors, so we can’t get everything right the first time.

Significant changes always mean significant challenges and it has been a year of significant changes that have had to be made, including a move that was required from Auckland’s Domain to ensure the longer term survival of Groove in the Park festival. Western Springs Stadium is the best resourced & closest alternative central venue currently available for this scale of event & we hope to develop the opportunities it can provide for in 2008.

We apologize for our oversight of providing clear on-site signage regarding $2.00 ticket holiday administration surcharge for gate sales & any distress this caused, we shall be more explicit of admin surcharges for Groove in the Park 2008 both prior to the event & on-site. The donation of a portion of all ticket sales to charity shall continue & we look forward to presenting this to the child cancer foundation – our 2007 beneficiary.

Unfortunately bars & food catering is contracted externally & regrettably was not stocked sufficiently to cater to all day demand. We have put together our concerns for the contactor & will ensure this is resolved for 2008.

We appreciate all feedback from Groove in the Park, as there are always ways to improve what we do, rectify mistakes & resolve any individual or event related issues.

Please send all comments or suggestions through the contact page of the www.grooveinthepark website to be discussed at the post gig analysis very soon, so we can respond to your feedback.

THANKS AGAIN EVERYBODY FOR A FANTASTIC SUCCESFUL GROOVE IN THE PARK-Feb 6, 2007, see you again in 2008 with a more streamlined event for your dancing pleasure!
