New Zealand Underwater Hockey Teams Named

The New Zealand Elite Womens and Womens Colts Underwater Hockey Teams were named on Monday following a four day trial in Rotorua.

The teams will compete against Australia in the Transtasman Championships, to be held in Christchurch in April.

The Elite Womens Team will be looking to upset their transtasman opponents, with coach Dolan McGinley selecting a strong blend of youth and experience for the national side.

Australia are the current World Champions in the womens grade, and will be looking to add the Transtasman trophy to their World Championship title, which they won in August 2006.

The Womens Colts will compete against the two elite teams, with the tournament providing an excellent chance for these players to gain international experience.

The full teams are:

NZ Elite Womens Team Zoe Firth (Wellington), Angela Whiteman (Wellington), Christina Heir (Wellington), Rebecca Kusel (Wellington), Rebecca Leach (Wellington), Adela May (Wellington), Jessica Massey (Wellington), Sabrina Quarante (Wellington), Emma Rae (Tauranga), Jen Marwick (Auckland), Jess Lowther (Auckland) and Kaitlyn White (Auckland). Coach Dolan McGinley (Wellington).
