Filmsoc Season Approaches... With free stuff

The 2007 Filmsoc Season Approaches... With Free Stuff

To celebrate the beginning of our 2007 season of films, the Canterbury Film Society will be holding a film trivia contest at the Victoria Square ampitheatre, midday on Saturday 24 February.

This will be an amusing opportunity to test your film knowledge in a relaxed environment, with the chance to win 12-month memberships to the society (valued at $100) and free movie tickets.

The ampitheatre will be divided into two large sections – one labeled “true” and the other “false”. When each film trivia question is asked, participants will move to stand in the section corresponding to the answer they believe is correct. Those who are wrong are eliminated; those who are right continue playing. As the numbers dwindle, the prizes will be granted: film society memberships and double passes to Rialto Cinemas. We'll have a warmup round or two so everyone can have a couple chances. Anyone can enter (not just members) so bring friends along.

Film society members get free entry to all society screenings throughout 2007 – more than 30 films – as well as discounted tickets to all sessions at local cinemas, discounted tickets to the International Film Festival and World Cinema Showcase, and, new this year, half-priced rentals at Alice in Videoland every Monday to Wednesday!
The 2007 season of films starts on Monday 5 March, 6.30pm at Rialto Cinema, Moorhouse Ave., with a screening of John O'Shea's classic New Zealand road film, Runaway (1964). The full 2007 programme and information on how to join is available on the website www.canterburyfilmsociety.org.nz
