Code Sports A New Series On Maori Television
Maori Television’s sensational sports entertainment show CODE launches its new season with a 90-minute live-to-air special from Te Matatini National Kapa Haka Festival in Palmerston North on Thursday February 22 at 8.30 PM (repeated Sunday February 25 at 3.30 PM).
Fans at Arena Manawatu for the opening night pageant are invited to be part of the ‘studio’ audience for the fast-paced programme that doesn’t pull any punches and nets the best guests.
Now in its third year, CODE will again be hosted by some of the country’s finest Maori athletes and role models including Tawera Nikau, Jenny-May Coffin, Ritchie Barnett, Wairangi Koopu, Glen Osborne, Matua ‘Mutts’ Parkinson and new presenter – former Black Fern captain, Farah Palmer.
The show will be broadcast live each week from Maori Television’s Auckland studios or from major events around the country, and will include the latest sports news, inside stories and behind-the-scenes action with top personalities making headlines at home and abroad.
Past guests on the CODE couch include Graham Henry, Benji Marshall, David Tua, Rico Gear, Troy Flavell, Ali Williams, Ray Sefo, Temepara George, Greg Murphy, Pero Cameron, Ana Scarlett and Luke McAlister.
Viewers can book their own seat on the CODE couch as part of the live studio audience by e-mailing code@maoritelevision.com.
Plus the new season is also the launch of the programme’s signature range of ‘Mean, Maori, Mean’ merchandise featuring funky t-shirts and sleeveless hoodies for the guys and girls as well as a cute range of t-shirts for the tamariki.
Maori Television executive producer of sport Bailey Mackey says the new series promises an equally impressive line-up of sporting legends and revealing interviews, as well as lots of laughs from off-the-cuff interviewing duo Bro’fessionals – Parkinson and Osborne.
Mackey says the show’s stand-out strengths lie in the immense mana and talent of the presenters as well as the calibre of the studio guests “who feel at home with its laid-back Maori manner”.
Crack the CODE only on Maori Television – premiering on Thursday February 22 at 8.30 PM and repeated Sunday February 25 at 3.00 PM.
