Aucklander Wins $2.1 million in Lotto Powerball

A lucky Lotto Powerball player who purchased their ticket in Mt Wellington in Auckland has become New Zealand's latest multi-millionaire, says NZ Lotteries Chief Executive, Todd McLeay.

Tonight's winning Lotto Powerball ticket was purchased at Foodtown Sylvia Park in Auckland and is worth a total of $2,129,254, with $1,962,587 from winning Powerball First Division and a further $166,667 from also winning Lotto First Division.

"Powerball is an unpredictable game which can be won at any time, February has been just such a month, with two winners in three weekends," said Mr McLeay.

Just two weekends ago a lucky player who purchased their ticket at Aramaho Mags & Lotto, in Wanganui won Powerball First Division, winning themselves $7.8 million.

Five other Lotto tickets, purchased in Auckland, Hastings, Raumati South, Nelson, and Christchurch have also won Lotto First Division tonight, winning $166,667 each.

The winning tickets were sold at the following stores:

Store, Location
6 Eleven Supermart, Auckland
PAK'nSAVE Hastings, Hastings
Raumati South 4 Square, Raumati
Stoke New World, Nelson
PAK'nSAVE Riccarton Lotto Kiosk, Christchurch

Lotto Strike Four has jackpotted to a huge $800,000 next week.

Another winner tonight was Helen Vanston from Wellington, who won a $50,000 Shopping Spree live on Lotto's Winning Wheel.

Tonight's Winning Wheel ticket was sold by Whitcoulls Nelson. The serial number is 537-48238887-20XX.

"Anyone who bought their ticket from any of these winning stores should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it immediately at any NZ Lotteries outlet," Mr McLeay says.
