Free music in March

Auckland City Council’s free Music in Parks concerts wrap up this month with the chance to catch some of the country’s best established artists and some up-and-coming new talent.

The Music in Parks Historic Places and Spaces series concludes with three chilled out concerts - perfect for a sunny summer afternoon.

- On 3 March, Brett’s New Internationals play a selection of wonderful music from the 20s and 40s at the Auckland Domain Wintergardens.

- New opera singing sensation, Anna Leese, will top the bill on 10 March at Highwic, Epsom.

- And on 17 March, one of New Zealand’s consummate performers, Ray Woolf, will sing some great nostalgia songs in the beautiful surroundings of Alberton House, Mt Albert.

The ever-popular Music in Parks Drake Jazz at the Rotunda series also hosts three final concerts this month at the band rotunda in Auckland Domain.

- On 4 March, pianist Phil Broadhurst plays two sets of jazz classics plus his own original numbers.

- Authentic New Orleans jazz is the order of the day on 11 March with The Vintage Jazz Band entertaining the crowd.

- Last, but not least, New Zealand’s foremost jazz trombonist Rodger Fox and his band play on 18 March.

These concerts are part of 35 free Auckland City Council Music in Parks events, which are taking place throughout summer.

Auckland City Council produces 60 free events as part of the Ak@Play summer events programme.
