Celebrate Pasifika at Central City Library

What do the bro'Town stars, Reverend Mua Strickson-Pua and poet Selina Tusitala Marsh have in common? They’re coming to the Central City Library on Wednesday, 14 March as part of the Celebrate Pasifika programme.

Bro’Town fans can enjoy a live performance from the Naked Samoans – Oscar Kightley, David Fane, Mario Gaoa and Shimpal Lelisi – who will read from a bro'Town script.

A number of prominent Pacific community members are also involved in the event. Speakers include the Revered Mua Strickson-Pua, aka REV MC; ethnomusicologist Richard Moyle, director of the Centre of Pacific Studies at the University of Auckland; his colleague Sailau Sua'ali'i Sauni; and I'u Tuagalu, Pasifika Support Lecturer at AUT. Popular NiuFM DJ Sela Alo is also part of the line up.

You can also enjoy readings by poets Selina Tusitala Marsh, Karlo Mila, Doug Poole, Daren Kamali and Okusitino Mahina.

Between 5 and 9 March, your local library will also be holding colourful Pasifika flavoured storytimes. Go to www.aucklandcitylibraries.com for more details.

These Auckland City Libraries activities are part of Celebrate Pasifika - a regional programme of arts and events which aims to showcase the extraordinary achievements of Auckland's Pacific peoples and provide opportunities for Aucklanders and visitors alike to engage with Auckland's Pacific cultures.
