Bamber Makes Good Recovery
Drive
Wanganui teenager Earl Bamber put in good
recovery drive after being involved in an incident on the
opening lap of the first Toyota Racing Series race at Timaru
International Motor Raceway today.
Bamber and
Nelson Hartley came together at the exit of the corner
leading onto the back straight of the 2.4 kilometre circuit
on the opening lap of the race. The TradeZone Tatuus
suffered a damaged front wing in the incident. While
Bamber returned to the pits to fit a new nose cone
the race was stopped and the field reformed for a restart.
Bamber and two others affected by various problems joined
the back of the field and the 16 - year - old set
about driving back to 10th place, catching and passing top
Australian Formula 3 driver Leanne Tander near the end of
the race.
"The car was damaged and we just did the
best with what we had," said Bamber after the race.
"Hopefully I did a half reasonable time for tomorrow's race.
We fitted a new nose cone after Nelson and I came together
but the car was a little bit out."
Tomorrow morning
Earl and the TradeZone Tatuus will line up for another 12
- lap race at 10.45am followed by an 18 lap finale at
3.15pm tomorrow afternoon.
Earl Bamber's 2006/2007
racing campaign is supported by the TradeZone Industrial
Group and their supplier partners CRC, Koken, Hitachi Power
Tools, Bahco, Fuller Hand Tools plus ESWA, Power Horse
Energy Drink, Wanganui Toyota and South Taranaki
Toyota.
