Marina offers inside sailing's premiere event
Port America's Cup Marina offers new packages inside sailing's premiere event
Valencia, 6th March, 2007 - Port America's Cup Marina, a new facility located in the heart of the America's Cup venue itself, allows mariners the opportunity to secure a berth alongside the best sailing teams in the world.
The marina offers 636 berths for yachts from eight to 29-metres LOA. It offers all of the facilities one would expect at a modern marina, including water and electricity at each berth, security, toilet, shower and laundry facilities, waste management, fuel, a convenience store and mooring assistance.
But the real attraction is its location. Tucked inside the new breakwater at the head of the canal leading to the inner Port America's Cup, the Marina offers front row access to the America's Cup itself. The 12 teams will pass by your berth each day as they transit the canal to and from the race course.
Ashore, Port America's Cup Marina is adjacent to the AC Park, the main public entertainment area for the event, which features dozens of restaurants, cafés, bars and pubs, as well as animations, concerts and interactive activities designed around the America's Cup. The Marina is less than 30-minutes from Valencia's Manises airport, which has direct flights to dozens of major European cities.
Occupancy for the different phases of the competition has already reached 50% but berths are still available from April to June. A new set of promotional packages has just been put on the market, featuring weekend, week-long and one month duration mooring options, with a wide range of prices starting at 50? per day for a boat under 12-metres.
A home for racing
As an added
attraction, a number of regattas are scheduled during the
'off' periods between rounds of the Louis Vuitton Cup. The
first is a three day regatta for the Smeralda 888 class from
the 12th to 14th of April. The one-design class was designed
by German Frers, the co-designer of Victory Challenge's SWE
96.
Following the Round Robins of the Louis Vuitton Cup, the exciting Olympic class, the 49er, will take over the waters off Port America's Cup. Approximately 20 boats are expected to compete from the 10th to 12th of May.
The highlight competition takes place after the winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup has been crowned. From the 14th to 17th of June, the 12-Metre class boats that contested the America's Cup from 1958 through 1987 will sail from Port America's Cup. About 15 entries are expected, including former America's Cup boats like Kiwi Magic KZ 7, which reached the final of the Louis Vuitton Cup in 1987 with current BMW ORACLE Racing skipper Chris Dickson at the helm.
Finally, from the 18 - 21st of June, just in advance of the 32nd America's Cup Match, the Oyster Class Association is holding a regatta from the Port America's Cup Marina. They are expecting up to 40 boats.
Between the racing for the 32nd America's Cup and the four 'outside' regattas, Port America's Cup Marina is destined to be the home of sailing in the Spring and Summer of 2007. Make it a home for your boat as well.
