Celebrate summer's twilight

Celebrate summer's twilight

As summer draws to a close, the April issue of NZ House & Garden takes time to celebrate striking homes, expansive gardens, and most importantly, the personalities behind them.

"A beautiful home or garden is one that is infused with the unique personality of the owner. In featuring these spaces the latest issue provides an intimate insight into the passion and devotion of those who have created them," says Michal McKay, Editorial Director.

"Throughout the country, old homes are being lovingly restored, and the April issue celebrates a myriad of resultant styles."

In this month's cover story, a Mission Bay state house is transformed into ethereal elegance with a simple palette of white on white. The loving preservation of Christchurch's Eversleigh, sees the mansion enter its second century with the charm of its graceful lines, high ceilings and polished rimu intact. While in Northland, over 280 Trade Me purchases have been an integral part in restoring a Totara North cottage to its turn of the century glory.

A gracious Easter lunch provides inspiration for April entertaining, and what better food to celebrate the holiday than chocolate - celebrity chef Peter Gordon dishes up chocolate paired with orange for decadent dining.

In this month's special feature, NZ House & Garden warmly welcomes the change of season with cosy autumn fabrics and fireplaces, providing practical heating advice.

And as the summer light softens in New Zealand, a new summer dawns in Valencia, where Dean Barker introduces us to his favorite room, aboard the new Emirates Team New Zealand yacht.
