Understanding Halal
Halal (حلال , ḥ alāl, halaal) is an Arabic term meaning "permissible". In the English language it most frequently refers to food that is permissible according to Islamic law. In the Arabic language it refers to anything that is permissible under Islam.
In Dearborn, Michigan , home to one of the largest Muslim and Arab populations in the United States , a number of fast food chains like McDonald's introduced halal chicken nuggets.
Recent laws passed in the United States have made it illegal to sell, distribute, and/or produce of food that has been mislabelled "halal," when it is determined that the food does not meet Islamic dietary standards.

The seminar is jointly organised by the Government of Malaysia , in collaboration with the Chair of Malay Studies at Victoria University of Wellington , and the Victoria University Foundation.
The Seminar is part of Victoria University ’s annual Saad Lecture programme. Admission is free.
The keynote speaker will be the Malaysian Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, The Hon Tan Sri Haji Muhyiddin Bin Haji Mohd. Yassin.
