The Nomad, King Kapisi, O.G. join forces
A trio of New Zealand’s leading musicians from diverse genres team up this month when The Nomad debuts new music from his upcoming album, featuring the MC talents of Silver Scroll winner King Kapisi and guitar virtuoso O.G.
The Nomad, aka Daimon Schwalger, King Kapisi and O.G. (Oakley Grenell) will be joined by DJs Lemon and Choice 1 (MC Antsman from Rhombus) for the gig at Wellington’s Sandwiches on April 27.
The event features a live set of The Nomad with King Kapisi and O.G., who will be performing new tracks from The Nomad’s forthcoming sixth album, as yet untitled but due for release in September 2007.
This is the first time that King Kapisi performs live with The Nomad, although the two have been working closely together in 2007.
In addition to King Kapisi providing vocals
to The Nomad’s sixth album, Schwalger has remixed King
Kapisi’s new track Stand, featuring legendary Jamaican
singer-songwriter Luciano.
This remix includes the live session talents of bassist Crete Haami (Hollie Smith), Chris Yeabsley (Twinset), Tehimana Kerr (Fat Freddys Drop) and drums from Myele Manzana (Olmecha Supreme). This remix will also be performed.
The Nomad recently released his first radio single for 2007, Breaking Rocks, which follows up on the acclaimed 2005 release Quinessence.
Featuring a cheeky sample from Nina Simone’s Work Song, Breaking Rocks fuses funk and soul with heavy rock riffs, courtesy of O.G.’s (guitar wizardry, pegged to a decadent break beat.
