Due to Public Demand Crunchie Comedy Gala Tickets Released Early

In response to a record number of pre-sales and public enquiries The 2007 NZ International Comedy Festival has today released the last 60 tickets for the prestigious Crunchie Comedy Gala for public sale.

Filmed live for TV on Friday May 4 at The St. James Theatre, final tickets were due to be released on April 30 in the week leading up to the gala event which kicks off the 3 week programme of exceptional comedy. Festival producer Kylie Aitchison decided to release tickets ahead of schedule in response to heavy public demand. “In the last week we’ve been flooded with requests for extra tickets” says Aitchison.

Popular for its fast paced format which offers a taste of the best local and international comedians in this years programme, the Crunchie Comedy Gala has sold out its 1500 capacity house for the last 3 years running. This year the gala is hosted by Irish Comedy Legend, Ardal O'Hanlon, star of the hit TV show "Father Ted” and features performances from 23 comedians including Ed Byrne (IRE), Carl Barron (AUS), Ewen Gilmour (NZ) Peter Helliar (AUS), Brendhan Lovegrove (NZ) and Phil Nichol (CAN).
