Opportunity For Stars Of The Future

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 1 May 2007

Stars Of The Future Have The Chance To Display Skills At Warriors Match

Western Union is giving Auckland schools and junior sporting clubs the chance to play in front of thousands of fans at Mt Smart Stadium during a Warriors home game.

Two junior teams will be chosen to take part in the Western Union Junior Rugby League Cup, which will be played during half-time of the Warriors versus Bulldogs game at Western Union’s Match Day on Sunday 3 June 2007.

Western Union will provide a $500 donation to both winning teams to fund additional sporting equipment for their school or club. The two winning teams will also receive an allocation of tickets to the game for friends and family, Match Day uniforms, and the opportunity to meet the New Zealand Warriors players.

David Chin, Western Union’s director, New Zealand and Pacific Islands, says Western Union is a proud sponsor of the New Zealand Warriors, and wants to give budding Kiwi league stars the chance to shine at the Warriors versus Bulldogs game.

“The Western Union Junior Rugby League Cup gives the next generation of New Zealand rugby league stars a chance to showcase their skills in a real stadium match, and meet their sporting heroes,” says Mr Chin.

“Young players need all the support they can get and Western Union, through our great relationship with the Warriors, can provide this.”

To enter the competition schools and sporting clubs simply need to write in and explain why their team deserves to play in the Western Union Junior Rugby League Cup. Entries must include the full name and contact details of the team coordinator, and the name and details of the school or sporting club. Entries must be submitted either on the official form or on the letterhead of the school or club.

The deadline for entries is close of business Friday 25 May 2007.

Entries can be sent to:
