Scouts Support for Arbor Day

Scouting New Zealand has announced plans to liaise with Regional, District and City Councils as well as the Department of Conservation to provide support for Arbor Day activities, on 5 June.

According to Scouting New Zealand CEO Geoff Knighton, "Scouts have long been associated with community activities and outdoors pursuits. This year in particular, we wanted to participate in Arbor Day activities, to mark the Movement's centennial year.

The Chief Scout in NZ is the Governor General, His Excellency Hon. Anand Satyanand, PCNZM.

The Scouting movement began in 1907 and was established in New Zealand in 1908.
