Female Comedy has arrived and is looking damn glam

The NZ International Comedy Festival is delighted to announce the sellout of both the Lindauer Comedy Divas Showcases at the Crunchie Comedy Chamber in Auckland. Female Comedy in New Zealand is at an all time high and is now largely accepted as a quality and professional art form. The popularity of female comedians has grown over the past three years which reflects audience numbers and demand.

“The developing success of this fantastic event, makes us all very excited about the future of New Zealand female comedy”, says Festival Director, Hilary Coe.

Aside from the Comedy Gala, The Lindauer Comedy Diva’s is the longest running and most successful event in the Festival. Lindauer has sponsored the Divas for the last 7 years highlighting the commitment and faith a major brand has in New Zealand female comedians.

“Lindauer is an iconic New Zealand brand that’s all about celebration, fun and success. We’re thrilled to be a part of the development of female comedy in New Zealand and look forward to many more years together”, Michael Wentworth, Lindauer Brand Manager.

The Diva line up is an all star cast, which includes the recipient of numerous New Zealand comedy awards – Michele A’Court. Jan Maree's Festival show in Auckland has sold out and, Penny Ashton’s show ‘Hot Pink Bits’ has received rave reviews. Irene Pink found success working the UK circuit and is the only professional Polynesian female comedian while Justine Smith is soon to open and tour nationally with Puppetry of the Penis. The Lindauer Comedy Diva’s also nurtures young talent; Ash Kilmartin is only 20 years old and is the rising star on the New Zealand comedy circuit.
