MovieFest Trust announces registrations open for 2007 nationwide short movie competition
WELLINGTON - May 21, 2007—The MovieFest Charitable Trust announced today that registrations for the 2007 MovieFest Short Movie Competition are being accepted.
MovieFest is a nation-wide short movie competition designed to showcase the creativity of New Zealand movie makers.
This is the fourth time the competition has been held and is designed to showcase the creativity of New Zealand movie makers, in entry categories of primary schools, secondary schools, amateurs or home hobbyists and for the first time this year, an open category.
Entrants will need to produce short three to five minute movies on a specified topic and will have a period of eight weeks to complete them.
A preliminary judging round will select the best three movies in each of the categories and these twelve movies will then be appraised by a panel of judges who are all seasoned professionals in the film and video industries.
In a departure from previous MovieFest competitions, the MovieFest Trustees have decided to hold screening festivals this year in Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin and Wellington, with an Awards Ceremony being held at the conclusion of the Wellington one.
The topic for this years competition will be announced on Monday 2 July and entrants will have until 24 August to complete their movie. The screening festivals will take place during September and October with the Award ceremony being held in Upper Hutt on Sunday 28 October.
Full details of this years competition are available on the Moviefest web site at http://www.moviefest.org.nz
