Youth Show Back in
Your Face on Maori Television
If you’re tired of your teenagers constantly online, give broadband the boot, disconnect the dial up and tune them in to TU WERA – Maori Television’s cool-as youth show premiering on Friday July 13 at 8.00 PM.
The second series of TU WERA showcases the latest in youth issues, trends and people – with the same irreverence that made the first series a winner. The best talent and the hippest trends in music, sport, fashion and the arts get the TU WERA treatment.
The presenting line up has changed slightly with Naomi Bradfield anchoring a new team of talented youngsters.
Naomi Bradfield (Ngati Porou): Fashionable, beautiful, ceaselessly funny and always up with what’s hot in Aotearoa, Naomi grew up with two brothers and a sister in Lawrence, a small farming community south-west of Dunedin. Her mother is Maori and hails from Te Araroa on the East Coast and her father is Pakeha, of Irish, Scottish and English descent.
Daryl Tepania (Ngati Kahu, Te Rarawa): At 16, Daryl is the show’s youngest presenter. Although hailing from Ngati Kahu and Te Rarawa in the far north, he grew up in Whangarei. Daryl still attends school in Whangarei in Year 12 and hopes to go to a performing arts school after Year 13.
Puke Timoti (Ngai Tuhoe): This 23-year-old architecture student from Murupara has dabbled in tutoring Maori, kapa haka, training horses, playing rugby and hunting all manner of wild beasts. Puke will be bringing you all the up-to-the-minute stories about the creative community in Aotearoa.
Nicole Douglas (Te Arawa): Nicole left Rotorua to come to the bright lights, big city scene in Auckland to join TU WERA’s presenting line-up. This beautiful Te Arawa wahine has previously presented the Maori version of Playschool on Maori Television.
