Interislander Presents Ride the SoundHouse Wave with Capital E
July School Holidays Means Cool Sounds on the Cook Strait

Cook Strait will be rocking these school holidays! Three talented Capital E SoundHouse Scholarship students will be entertaining holidaymakers on the Interislander during the first week of the July school holidays, 2-7 July. Meghan Glue, Deanne Krieg and Angelique McDonald will present their original compositions, in two one hour-long performances each day.

14 year old Meghan Glue has been working with Capital E SoundHouse™ New Zealand co-ordinator, Carl Rayner, for three years and is about to release her own CD. Meghan, a student at Wellington Girls’ College, started learning violin when she was four and can now also play the guitar, mandolin and banjo. Her songs are inspired by her everyday life and relationships.

Angelique McDonald started performing at the age of 5 with an Irish folk band and has been making music ever since. Her songs are inspired by things that are happening around her and by NZ musicians like Brooke Fraser. Angelique, who attends Paraparaumu College, has appeared in numerous events - Artsplash, the Wellington Christmas Parade and in the Capital E SoundHouse DMV concert. She is also currently working on her own CD.

At a very young age, Deanne Krieg’s singing teacher encouraged her to perform in rest homes and singing competitions. At age 7 she went on to make CDs for Learning Media and appear in musicals and plays. Now 15 years old, Deanne, who goes to Hutt Valley High, is passionate about her music. Like Meghan and Angelique, she plans to make music her career.

Meghan, Deanne and Angelique are part of the Capital E SoundHouse Scholarship Programme, which supports some of New Zealand’s top student singers, songwriters and musicians. Capital E SoundHouse New Zealand is a world-class music and multi-media production suite where young people can explore music and technology. School groups form the basis of the SoundHouse’s audience, but there are also public workshops during the school holidays. Using Sony’s Acid programme, visitors can choose from 36,000 music samples to create their own arrangement.

Capital E is managed by the Wellington Museums Trust with major funding support from Wellington City Council.
